Jesus plainly asked of us to take the cross with us daily (Luke 14). Using it to ‘put to death’ the various elements of the sins of man, we will be pleasing to God and have God with us as we build (verses 27-28). He did not desire us to be ‘mocked’ by those walking past and saying ‘behold a man who began to build but could not finish’. We must count the cost and know if we have sufficient moneys, helpers and time to finish a project. This will help every family as well as individual of the family. There is an adage valuable for us: If my outgo exceeds my income, my upkeep will be my downfall ! Budgets set forth, understood and checked frequently as each family member goes on in life will surely make it possible to choose better between our ‘wants’ and our ‘needs’. We may not be blessed according to our wants, but rich according to our needs. Needs such as good health, useful tools for projects and consultation of others whose wealth of understanding in our current project are indispensable. Let’s go onward and upward in God’s plan. 032518 am
